Newest Feminist Frequency video is up!!! Tropes Vs. Women - The Straw Feminist

Agree with almost everything except:

1. the term women’s rights is used in a cissexist way to portray only cis women and their problems

2. at the end she talks about why some people don’t call themselves feminists, but it’s not just because of the straw feminist trope but also because of real exclusionary feminism that happens in feminist communities

While there are activists who no longer identify as feminists because of problems within the feminist communities, the majority of people who don’t want anything to do with the “f-word,” as it were, are people who buy into the Straw Feminist trope. People who know enough about the feminist communities to be aware of their problems don’t say things like “oh feminists just hate men” and such.

Are there problems with feminism? For sure! But I think it’s fair to say that the majority of bad press comes from Straw Feminism, not from feminism itself.
